Hi,

We used to remove the file menu altogether, but when it soon became
clear that users couldn't live without the create new folders option.

Is it possible to stop users creating shortcuts, but allowing them to
create folders still?

Cheers

Hi Robb,

There has no way to remove the shortcut from the New menu.

We can workaround this by deleting the following registry key:

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.lnk\ShellNew

Then, the new link wizard will not run. It only generate a blank shortcut
file.

Thanks for using Microsoft News Group!

Sincerely,
