Does anyone know of a way to stop a program from blocking standby? a voip
program, magicjack, disables the standby function, requiring me to kill mj
to use standby. Now they have "updated" their software to make this even
more annoying, since mj will now restart itself after coming out of standby,
blocking use of the computer for a minute with an unmovable splash screen.

Is there a registry change, or some other method, that I might be able to
use that will keep magicjack from screwing around with the standby function?

Open Device Manager, open the properties on each USB Root Hub, click the
Power tab, and deselect "Allow the computer to turn off this device to
save power". If it isn't stopped during Standby, it shouldn't need to
restart.

that might help if i could use standby, but without killing magicjack.exe, i
don't have access to standby. when i click start>turnoff>standby, nothing
happens. this apparently something that the mj software does.
