Hello,

Is there a way that we would be able to stop a message from being sent when
it is sent from a specific account. We need to monitor what messages are
being sent out to a Distribution List that every employee has access to. We
want to be able to stop the message and view it before it leaves our
company.

Any ideas?

While Exchange may contain this functionality (I don't know), other tools,
like MIMEsweeper (http://www.clearswift.com/) certainly do are are very good
at enforcing a company mail policy.

AFAIK you can only moderate public folders.

Control from admin program

We have only got Exchange 5.5 at present, but to solve this one I would either, using the admin program restrict the usage to an admin group.

Or to be a bit sneaky i'd make myself an owner of the list, then using the advanced tab, hide membership from the address book.

Clear out all the members into a new dist list hidden from the address book, but with me as the owner and only one who could send to it.

I'd then just add my account into the original dist list so that everytime someone sent something to it I'd be the only recipient. That way I could check what was being sent to the list.

If the message was ok i'd then send it on to the second list i mentioned above which I would have the right to send to and was hidded fom the address book. This way I could filter out any offending messages or ones sent to it by mistake.

Hope this helps.

I want to thank everyone who offered help to my problem. I will research
each answer and I am sure that my goal will be accomplished.

Have a wonderful day and fantastic weekend!
