I want to stop users running .reg files (from HD and floppy disk). We have
around 200 machines and 1300 users (school).

I have set the option 'disable registry editing' in the AD but it doesn't
stop them running them.

More specifically restricting access to
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings.
This does not come up as an option in the AD 'registry' section in computer
configuration.

Try disabling regedit.exe and regedt32.exe using the do not allow these
windows applications GPO setting.

yes, thanks i think that will work (maybe diallow *.reg as well?) but will
that mean i can never run regedit.exe /s files through the logon script?
