when the users click onto the hyperlink they are alowed to print at this
time. I would like to have them to only be able to just read the document
without printing, changing, save as, etx.

You would have to make the document a PDF with Adobe Acrobat where you can set permissions, etc.

Thank you for your post, but read only is the permissions at this time. They
are still able to print the doc. and save as

you can set more security properties on the PDF with Adobe Acrobat (not the
reader)

you can see what they are set at here Advanced | Security | Show Security
Properties, but you change/create them elsewhere...you'll find it (sorry I
don't have it on this machine right now).

There is now way to stop someone from printing what they see on their
screen, one way or another it can be done.

Once the document is on the computer screen it can be copied and
pasted to another application (or with a screen copy) and printed.
There is nothing you can do about it.

You can however prevent the normal printing through the menus. Create
a CSS file and link to it with media set to print. Then create a
class that stops the display of the page. I can't remember the exact
format but you can google it.

Have a look at a bit of work I did - Right click etc and you will see what
happens

http://www.folgarida.co.uk/Folgarida_articles_SnowOnMountain.htm

I have disable left and right click and put a message up

But this will only stop someone who does not know what they are doing

If it's on your screen you can copy it

As an example - I assume that you know what you are doing so you can copy
the code from that page if you want :-)

Left & right click work just fine.

PS - Your warning message is absurd.
We have disabled the right click..\n\nInstead of trying to copy someone
else's work\nwhy not trying doing your own research.\n\nAre you ashamed at
your attempted theft?\nYou should be\n\nThe timestamp and your IP address
have been sent to our server.\nThanks for that.\n\nWe will be watching for
reproductions and take action should we find em!!";Bob Lehmann

: - )

Ok - is that a new "ism". Are we being leftist.

I have changed the warning on the page. - to make it a little less "absurd"

Yes I know it's wrong - but I did consider some Client Side scripts for some
of the sites I look afer. I would NEVER have used them but.......most people
- to copy a page - either right click or left click and drag - but of which
are "event actions" and so ......
