Is it posible to change a setting for individual accounts on Win XP machine
so a user cannot close Internet Explorer? And how can i then override this
as the administrator?

Please note: this PC is not in a domain

Let me make sure I understand-you want to be able to remove the abiltiy to
completely close Internet Explorer from the logged in user? But if you sit
down at the PC and need to work you can close it should you need to?

I don't think there is a way to make that happen natively in Windows.

Hi Steve,

If you are using a Professional version of Windows you can use the Group
Policy editor (gpedit.msc) to 'Disable the option of closing Internet
Explorer' under Internet Explorer Restrictions.

Or create and set the value for the following registry key to 1

[HKCU\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Restrictions\] dword -
NoBrowserClose=1
