Stop time outs, slow is ok

While downloading, surfing often times out. I have dialup and I accept the
slower-ness when downloading and surfing. Why are some sites just slower but
others keep timing out? I hate time out. These time outs are quicker then
the slow loading of other sites, so I think it is not my end. Although, I
hope it is my end, so maybe I can adjust something. Repeat, I accept the
slowness / delays when going to sites, but I do not like the time outs that
some sites sometimes give me. What can I do? I know that I can get a faster
connection or stop the download, but lets not go there ok?

Links?

Different days it is different sites. Google search often times out while
simultaneously downloading. Another is
http://www.fire.or.cr/sept05/audios-austin/audios.htm

I just remember those two because I was trying them last night and I only
seceded when I stopped the download. There are other sites though.

I do most of my surfing between 9p and 6a. Tonight I will report more sites
to you that fail and I will also report sites that do load.

(please don't top-post)

I have dial-up too, but sites that are too slow to load are very few.

The url above took 15 seconds to completely load, mainly because of the header.

http://www.yogamoves.com/ is not loading during my file download. It just
repeatably:

The page cannot be displayed
The page you are looking for is currently unavailable. The Web site
might be experiencing technical difficulties, or you may need to adjust your
browser settings.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Please try the following:
a.. Click the Refresh button, or try again later.
b.. If you typed the page address in the Address bar, make sure that
it is spelled correctly...

ditto with http://www.yogamovesme.com/
and http://www.ingdirect.com/

when I turn off the file download, these pages load.

What "file download"?

a and b not relevant to my problem.

You said earlier
So why would you want to be surfing while you're downloading?
(unless you've got multiple CPU's or Hyper Threading)

because I have something to download and I also have sites that I need to
visit.
