I have one users who wants the default "open file" view be details and not
preview. Anyone know a hack. This guy has the ability to make my life hell
over this.

cheers

When you go to open a file within most Office apps the little box it
remembers the last view you had (I.E. list, details, thumbnail, etc).

However PowerPoint (2003) does not have this behavior and always uses a view
called preview. Anyway of setting this to view to use the "last used"

Thanks,

this is for 2000 / XP - I should have said it was 2003.

interesting article - I had a poke around in the reg but no luck.

A couple things to try:

- where the article says to use 9.0 or 10.0, you should use 11.0, the version
number for PPT 2003

- you need to make registry edits while PPT isn't running (and I'm guessing
that would extend to ALL Office apps). Otherwise your edits get 1) ignored and
2) stomped.
