All of us are looking for answers. And what do they do?....customer
support? NO! They have us ask each other for answers. This is insane. We
all paid good money for our systems and they NEED to provide the support.
STOP THIS....CALL THEM! Make them accountable for our needs & questions.
You are just enabling them to not be there for us, which means a loss of
jobs in customer support and enough frustration to make me believe in the
MAC ads!

You're living in a fantasy world. The warranty covers hardware problems,
not software. Part of the reason PCs are so much cheaper than Macs is
because software support is generally not included in the computer's
purchase price.

Most software problems are due to something the user did or failed to do.
Why penalize everyone for the few who don't read the instructions?

I was mainly talking about PCs as bought from the store.
If the owner subsequently buys additional software, such as
Office 2007, that's a different story.
I agree that on the whole, support in the technical forums
is often better than what you can get from the vendors.

I AGREE COMPELETLY!

I have 1 week old Dell, that no will give me help with! The VISTA system is
giving me fits. Dell says ask Microsoft and Microsoft says to ask Dell. It
is a lovely run-around. I just spent a fortune on the dumb machine and now
they want that much more to help me operate it!

Try using MS Chat to start an issue with MS regarding Vista - not other
s/w - just Vista itself. They helped me extensively with SP2 . . . . .
here's the email address from one of their emails they sent me in follow-up
too - you may be able to get them via this:

Dell spends a lot of money on advertising. I personally prefer to avoid
companies that get customers by bombarding the public with abundant
commercials, especially the intentionally annoying commercials.

Your original post is not a question. If there was a sincere question, PA
Bear would have provided a good answer; very likely it would at least be the
best answer possible. The subject "Stop the Madness!" is a huge clue to
insincerity; most people that see that subject will already be clued in to
the real intent of the post. The original post is highly disrespectful.

Note that PA Bear said nothing; PA Bear asked the question "What are you
smoking?". If the answer is nothing, then the conversation ends there. If
the answer is something, then it is an entirely valid question. If you
consider the question to be disrespectul, then I assume the answer to the
question is that you are on something.
