Simon

Hi,

I have a friends PC here which constantly tries to dial up it's own Internet
Connection - when not needed!

I have un-checked "Connect Automatically" in the "Dial-Up Connection" Box
but it still continues to dial - particularly when you open up "My Computer"

Pleas help!

Thanks
Simon

Thanks for your help here.

I did this but it still keeps trying to connect.

Any ideas?

Many Thanks
Simon

To rectify this problem delete a name or address entry from the list: Start/Run/Regedit

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\RAS Autodial\Addresses

You can delete any TCP/IP addresses that you see under this key.

Note that AutoDial can use IP addresses, DNS fully qualified domain names
(FQDN), and NetBIOS names.

Hi Simon,

Dial-up connection window pop-ups automatically while working

You might also check for folder called dialers. Some websites automatically add a phone dialer to your computer. the majority of these dialers will dial long distance to porn sites in the background. If you don't stop them, there is a possibility you will received a large long distance phone bill
