Hi,

I hope someone can help me.

I'm running Office XP on on Windows XP. When I recive an
email with a Word attachment, and then open that Word
attachment, the date typed on the word document (such as
in a letter) changes from the original date to whatever
dat I open the Word document.

For example, I have a letter I recived via email dated
10th September, but when I opened the letter today it was
dated the 14th October. Todays date. And this is
happening with all Word docs.

Please can some one help.

Word is doing it to you not Outlook. When you insert a
date (or time) into a Word document, you can select to
turn on "Update Automatically". Whoever created the
document you are opening must have chosen that option.
This is from Word help:

"If you inserted the date or time by using the Date and
Time command on the Insert menu, Microsoft Word will not
update the date or time you inserted unless you chose to
update them automatically. To have Word automatically
update the date and time, click Date and Time on the
Insert menu, and then select the Update automatically
check box. When you click the field and press F9, Word
displays the current date and time.

If your date is inserted as a field, but it hasn't been
updated, it may not display the correct date. To update
the field, click it, and then press F9. To have the date
automatically updated when you print, click Options on
the Tools menu, and then click the Print tab. Under
Printing options, select the Update fields check box.

To track when a document was created, last printed, or
last saved, click Field on the Insert menu, click Date
and time in the Categories box, and then insert a
CREATEDATE, PRINTDATE, or SAVEDATE field. You can use
options with these fields to print the date, the time, or
both."

After reading that, I don't think you can get the
original date from the field.
