Ya pay for alot of things that have spyware. HP's Driver
for one of there printers has a spyware component that
reports statistics on what you print back to them. Windows
Media Player; if you have a firewall you may have seen it
request to allow the config utility to access the net. What
it won't tell you is that the utility also reports what
type of content you've been playing on it.

So odds are, ya it's spyware.

Talk to the vendor.

I have clients that have installed eAcelleration products that were
extremely happy once I rid their systems of the product.

A few things I emphatically tell my clients is never click on the monkey,
never click on the product that pops up purporting to do something
beneficial to your machine and never pay for a product without doing
research especially if it pops up while you're in misery.

Is eAcelleration "bad"? Depends on who you talk to. They do have a
reputation and you have to decide if they've switched from the dark side to
a lighter shade of palatable gray.

YMMV.

Walter,
no, Stop-Sign is not bad.

And you don't have to take my word for it. Many well-
known third-parties (which does include a number of
competitors in the anti-virus and/or anti-spyware
industry) have removed any negative listing of
eAcceleration and Stop-sign as spyware/malware/adware in
the past several months
(such as PestPatrol, SpywareWarrior, Aluria, NoAdware,
Tenebril, Kaspersky, Panda, SpywareNuker, ParetoLogic, and
even SpyBot S&D (safer-networking)).

So... I don't know how long you've been a member, but
you can either ride this out, or call in for a
cancellation (and, if you're still in the 30-day guarantee
period, a refund).

Nich,

no, Stop-Sign is not spyware (or anything similar).

known third-parties (which does include a number of
competitors in the anti-virus and/or anti-spyware
industry) have removed any negative listing of

if you paid for it how could it be spyware.
if you have a question about a program, use an internet
search engine and type the exe. file name, and take a
look at the results. you can a;sp go to a few of the
security web sites. if you have norton or zonealarm you
can search their web sites.

Just as a follow-up.....
I've since corresponded with some of the people involved in my prior
assessment of this product, and have found that my earlier comment was based
on out-of-date information.

It would seem that, contrary to my prior belief, Stop Sign Software is
indeed rehabilitating itself under new management, and as such does not
deserve the said comment.

I will be re-assessing the software myself in the next few weeks, to see
what changes have been made.

My apologies for any distorted viewpoint that I may have shown.
