STOP Registry Error during Shut Down

Hi Everybody,
I am having a problem that after hitting the shut down
button / restart button fron the start menu, there is an
abrupt shut down of windows with a short-time blue screen
display with the text as below:

***STOP: 0x00000051 (0x0000000C, 0xC0000005, 0xBAEBC3D8,
0xBAEBC030)
REGISTRY_ERROR


This happens also when we try formatting any floppy disk.
After formatting it gives a message that the floppy has
been successfully formatted and we need to acknowledge
this message by hitting the "ok" button, after which the
same happens.

Please help as it's quite irritating at times apart from
the problem it poses because of improper shut-down

It's not a shutdown, it's a crash. A BSOD.

1) Set the system so that the Blue Screen stays visible
System Properties, Advances, Startup and recovery,
Un-check "Automatically reboot"

2) Go here and see if anything looks likely

Often hardware problems, RAM errors, disk errors, ...

It's a start anyway.
