When I try to record a macro in Excel 2003, the Stop Recording toolbar does
not open up. It's important for the Stop Recording Toolbar to pop up
because, in addition to the Stop Button, it also has the Relative Reference
button which I need.
The machine is a new Dell with XP Pro and w/o SP2 as of yet.

I have an older PC (Win 2K) with Excel 2000 and the macros record as they
should.

Thanks for any suggestions you might have.

Hi!

Try this:

Right click any toolbar.
Select: Customize
Click the Toolbar tab.
Scroll down and check: Stop recording

Note: if you "stop" the macro recorder by clicking on
the "X" instead of clicking on the stop button, the
toolbar will no longer appear and to get it back you have
to repeat the above process.

Not sure about 2003 but with 2000 here's another way that
I learned on here about a month ago....start a
recording...go to "View/Toolbars" and click on "Stop
Recording"....that should bring it up on your screen
everytime you start recording. That option won't show
unless a recording is in process.

And do not close the Toolbar by using the "X" while recording or you will lose
it again.

If the Toolbar is not available on View>Toolbars go to
Tools>Customize>Toolbars and checkmark the Toolbar.

Safe to close with the "X" at this point.

Good to follow Gord's advice and get that checkmark in the
Toolbars window, 'cause you're sure to click that "X"
sometime......been there.....done that

I would like to thank Biff and this forum for providing the information below, I spent too much time on other sites which did not even mention turning on the toolbar, and did not know how to get it back after it disappears.

I was able to perform the following and now can access the Relative Reference mode.

Barbara
