Stop programms from auto-start

Hello
I have internetwash and other programs that startup
automatically when my win2000 starts.
How could I stop them from starting

For no particular reason, I quite like autoruns from sysinternals.
It doesn't actually disable anything, but it will take you to
where the item is being loaded so that YOU can disable it.

I like autoruns as well. I recently e-mailed them requesting an
enhancement of a command-line switch for "no gui and dump all to
specified file"

The reply was "Good idea, however at this time I have no plans to
update that particular project."

Perhaps a few more requests from command-line junkies would move
their position... <S>
