I switched from Outlook Express to Outlook. Now whenever I restart my
computer and open Outlook it re-downloads all old e-mails. I have it set to
keep a copy on the server for a few days so that I can download to different
computers. This was never a problem with Outlook Express. How can I get
this to work properly?

What version of Outlook? What service pack level?

I am running Outlook 2003, service pack 2, version 11.8010.8036

This appears to be a recurring problem with Outlook 2003. At this point,
the solution appears to be to disable the option to keep copies on the
server, allow Outlook to fully download and delete messages once, and then
reenable the option. After that, it should work OK. Of course, that would
remove the messages from the server. If you have web access to the server
and can create folders on the server, you might consider making copies of
the messages on another server folder before trying the proposed solution.
That way you won't lose them in the process.
