Outlook Calendar (2003) is displaying the whole day for me...that is from
00:00 to 23:00. This makes it more or less useless on my laptop because
the individual meetings are too small.

From looking at various pictures, this appears not to be the default
behaviour.
But I can't stop it. Can anyone help me? What can I possibly have done to
make it do this? How can I stop it?

Change the size of the intervals shown on the left time scale to something
smaller than 60 minutes. Right click in the time scale and select a new
size.

This doesn't make any difference to me. It just changes the grid size.
Still outlook displays the full day rather than just the working day.

Hmmm, I tried that here and setting the interval to 60 minutes showed the
whole day while 15 minutes only showed as much as fit the screen. What
resolution are you running on your monitor and how big is your Outlook
window? Outlook will always fill as much of the screen as it can with the
work day highlighted in a different color

It's a fairly standard resolution, 1280 by something or other.

It is possible to change the size of the cells, I wonder.
