Using Windows 2000 servers.

Sometimes I need to make a change to a server and need to prevent users from
accessing the data shared out.

With NT4, all I had to do was to stop the NetLogon service but with Win2k,
this does not work. I have tried stopping the Server service but then no one
(including me - even if I have a session open) can access it.

NOTE: I am only wanting network access stopped for a certain time period,
not local log ons, etc.

thanks

.
Unplug the network cable.

So if I unplug the cable, then obviously I will not be able to access the
server across the network.

Nice thinking though, not.
