Hi,
I have windows 2000 and office xp. When I open an excel
or word file, I see multiple window in my task bar. Does
anyone know how to disable that? I want only 1 excel and 1
word in task bar. office xp correct that by joining same
program together but now, I have win2000.

Thank you.

Alex

How are you opening your files? from within Excel or from Explorer?

What do you mean that Office XP corrects by joining same program together? You
said in the beginning you have office XP -- Win2000 has nothing to do with the
verision of Office.

Are you truely seeing multiple instances of Excel or are you just seeing
Multiple windows on the task bar?

If it's really multiple windows into the same instance:

Tools|options|view|uncheck windows in taskbar.

If you really have multiple sessions starting, sometimes one of these works:

Tools|Options|General|Ignore other applications (uncheck it)

--- or ---

Close Excel and
Windows Start Button|Run
excel /unregserver
then
Windows Start Button|Run
excel /regserver

The /unregserver & /regserver stuff resets the windows registry to excel's
factory defaults.

Hi Alex,

Try the sequence of menu commands: Tools; Options; View,
and clear check box Windows in taskbar.

Best regards,
Nikolay
