How do I stop workstations from accessing the Internet.
We are on a DSL connection to the outside world.

You could not configure their computers with a default gateway,
configure their computers with ipsec filtering policies that block access to
the internet, or use a firewall that will block outbound traffic and create
rules to do so based on ip addresses. Such firewalls are as little as $120
these days, but depending on size and needs of the network you may want to
get a more robust model. --- Steve

Considering this a GP newsgroup, one "sticking plaster" solution would be to
prevent users from running iexplore.exe. However, it doesn't take a rocket
scientist to get round this one! As Steve suggests, a cheap firewall would
probably suffice, but if you happen to be using ISA server then this will do
all you need.

One simple way I found round this problem was to enforce a proxy server
(using GPO) pointing to a dud address and then again using the GPO just
block access to internet settings so that it cannot be changed. That way
there is no internet access through explorer. It gets more difficult though
if you have netscape installed.

Perfect answer...this is how I do it. Do not forget to do
the "Part B"...If you do not disallow that setting being
changed a somewhat smarter user will figure it out and
next thing you know it everyone has access to the Internet
again....
