Stop error

I had to replace my motherboard, cpu, memory and graphics card recently and
when I start my computer, I get a stop error. The error is 0x0000007B. I know
that it has to do with the boot drive. I've tried using the recovery option
using my XP CD with no luck. I've tried fixboot and fixmbr, with no luck.
I've updated my BIOS, unplugging all my drives except my boot drive, removed
my ata controler card; all with no luck. I don't have a floppy drive, so I
can't try any of the options that require one. I'm pretty sure if I
reinstall XP that will solve my problem, but I don't want to go that route
unless I have to. I don't know what else to try. I'm pulling out what little
hair I have left trying to figure this out. Any other ideas are welcomed.

TIA,

Rogue

With a change of mobo your sys is unlikely to boot untill you run a repair
install of winxp, and install drivers supplied with your mobo

It is also possible that your winxp recovery cd may be locked to your
origonal hw/mobo and may not allow the repair

Thanks for the reply peter. The repair option was not available when I tried
it. I am, however, installing XP on another drive. Is there a way for me to
transfer my settings from my old copy of XP to my new one? I am using the
same slipstreamed cd that I created when I first installed XP. If so, what
folders, files, reg keys, etc... do I need? I have all of my programs (the
ones that gave me the option to install in a diferent location) installed on
another drive and if I could transfer my settings to my new copy, that would
save me a lot of time.

Thanks again for your help.

It easier to reinstall into the original location..........especially if you
have done a system state backup which you could then "restore"
The reason for the "repair" installation is to correct the drivers which are
based on your old mobo and video.A repair installation would recognize the
change and correct those drivers re new mobo etc. After which you would run
your mobo CD.

Sorry for the delay in responding. A close friend of the family passed away
and I have been spending time with their loved ones.

When I made my slipstreamed XP cd, I left out the F.A.S.T. wizard because I
was backing up every month. My most recent backup is four months old and does
not have some of the newer programs I installed since the last backup. I
have reinstalled XP on another drive and have reinstalled most of my programs
again, copying the settings from the old setup to the new.

Thanks again for the help.
