i keep getting a 0x0000007e stop error while i'm using media center in
vista. I've check my RAM with a diagnostics tool and its OK.

What else could be causing the problem?

i guessed as much but how do i tell which drivers are causing the problem?

Any other failing hardware, or faulty drivers. I'd bet on faulty drivers.

Does the Stop error indicate the module involved? This error is common when
there are damaged video drivers, faulty memory, or insufficient disk space.
It can also be caused (but normally during setup) by a system BIOS
incompatibility. The latter would require flashing it and updating to a
newer set of instructions.
