stop error; 000000a8?? what & why is that??

it started months ago, a blue screeen appears and says
that the system will shut down to prevent damage on the
computer. Besides, i was trying to install "xp pro",
but it created a hard disc "G" now i can not neither
install nor unistall it.

what should i do???????

I'm using windows xp home edition.

Because you want to switch to Windows XP Professional Edition I would
take the time to remove all Windows installations and then install
Windows XP clean. You have to reinstall all your applications in the
new Windows installation.
