Stop E-Mail from opening.

Hi All;
How do I stop the E mail in my inbox from opening automatically when I click
on it to delete it? I had it that way on my old computer but just go a new
one and when I see an E mail I don't want to open I high light it and it
opens. I would like to be able to delete it before it opens. Any help is
appreciated.

If you are using outlook express to read your mail:

tools/options/read
Uncheck the "automatically download message when viewing in the preview
panel"
 
If you are using OE, go to view>layout and un-check "Show Preview Pane". The
use of the preview pane is the source of many virus problems.

Changed computers and didn't remember how it was done. You all are great.
