Is there any way to block a website from changing the cursor on MY
computer in Internet Explorer. Having the cursor change to some
idiotic shape is childish.

How can I block this?

Thanks.

If you mean by changing your cursor, an image follows your cursor around the
page, such as the hummingbird here: http://www.hummingbirds.net/ - then you
will have to disable scripting - Tools...Internet Options...Security tab,
Custom. However, that might mess up the display of a lot of web pages these
days.

If you mean that your cursor changes to odd shapes or objects when you hover
over items or areas on a web page, then you will have to disable CSS via the
registry. See this article for more information:

Hi manicd,

Thank you for posting. Also thanks for Jon's comprehensive solution.

I basically agree with Jon, and please refer to following information to
try these modifications:

1. To disable Scripting for a particular Web site, you can add that site to
the Restricted Sites zone, and then disable Scripting and other content for
the Restricted Sites zone.

To add a site to the Restricted Sites zone in Internet Explorer:

a. Start Internet Explorer. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.

b. Click the Security tab. Click Restricted Sites, and then click Sites.

c. In the "Add this Web site to the zone" box, type the Web address for the
site that you want to restrict, and then click Add. Repeat this step if you
want to add other sites to the zone. Click OK.

d. Click Default Level to set the Restricted Sites zone to the recommended
level, which disables Scripting. Click OK.

----------------------------
2. You can also disable Scripting in Internet Explorer for all sites. You
might not want to use this method, because this might cause many Webs sites
to be displayed incorrectly. In other words, when some bored web pages are
blocked, other cute sites are blocked, too.

To disable Scripting for all Internet sites:

a. Start Internet Explorer. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.

b. Click the Security tab. Click Internet, and then click Custom Level.

c. Disable all Scripting in the Scripting section.

d. Click OK twice.

You can also set the Scripting setting to Prompt, which will cause you to
be prompted whether to enable or disable each script that is loaded from a
Web page.

----------------------------
3. To disable the use of style sheets, you can use Registry Editor to open
the following registry key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main

Add a string value to the above registry key called "Use StyleSheets" and
set it to no.

If you want to re-enable the use of style sheets, edit the string value
"Use StyleSheets" in the above key and set it to yes.

WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that
may require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot
guarantee that problems resulting from the incorrect use of Registry Editor
can be solved. Use Registry Editor at your own risk.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to
contact us. It is always our pleasure to be of assistance.

Have a nice day!

Sincerely,

Tom Che
