Stop Codes (8E and 24)

My Dell Dim E521 (XP MC) started running very slowly, and I started getting
BSODs. I did a Windows Recovery (chkdsk /r) and it found & fixed errors.

However, same day, the BSODs started returning with increasing frequency.

The errors are always different -- but the STOP codes are normally
0X0000008E . with a variety of parameter codes. But then and again I get a
0X00000024 error, with the NTFS designation.

I have researched through here a bit for ideas, but as I work them I am
getting led down a number of alternative paths (Ahh, the joy of
troubleshooting) So I thought I would finally just ask about what is
happening to ME. :)

I am fixing to run another recovery to see if it helps any, then I will try
swapping ram ... assuming neither of these provide my solution, what would
you recommend I do next?

Thank you for taking the time to answer this post.

See if you can find a clue and possible solution in Event Viewer.
Click Start > Run, type in: eventvwr.msc and press Enter.

Double click on a listed entry in the right pane to open a details window for the
event.
Event errors include a link to a "possible" solution in the details window.

Thank you for your suggestion. I seem to have had multiple errors and such,
but here are two that I am seeing more often than others: "The following
boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
nvatabus
nvraid"

The other error, and there are multiples of these clumped together,
chronologically, reads:
"Error code 1000008e, parameter1 c0000005, parameter2 805d6c7c, parameter3,
f3fa6bf4, parameter4 00000000"

As I noted, there are four of these clumped together, but the parameters
change for each of them, even though the error code stays the same.

Initially, the leads I was following centered around drivers .. so I went to
my favorite driver location to try to download drivers, and the ActiveX
control would not load. I followed some troubleshooting steps for THAT, and
did not get it solved.

I do have a built in NVIDIA graphics controller on the mobo.

Thank you so much for your help. By the way, if it helps, this is running
an AMD 64 processor.
