Stop Code - Can't install Vista

Insert Vista Ultimate DVD. System boots to DVD and screen displays "windows
loading files". Next thing screen is blank or black. I then turn power off,
system boots to DVD - again "windows loading files" then Blue screen
displayed. Windows installation is terminated to avoid damage to computer.
At the bottom of the screen is displayed this stop code:

Stop: 0x0000001E (0xFFFFFFFFC0000005, 0xFFFFF80009850E06,
0x0000000000000000, 0xFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF)

This is a clean install on a new system (hd not formatted yet)
Asus P5W64WS Pro (Intel 975x chipset & Intel ICH7R chipset)
Corsair XMS2 2Gb
Intel core 2 extreme QX6700 quad core
PNY Nvidia FX 4500 512 mb PCIE graphics card
Western Dig 500GB SATA 3GB/s

Format your HD into 2 or 3 partitions.
C: D: E: etc
One of the partitions, usually C: has to be the
active partition for Vista to install.

There has been some trouble with SATA drives
but we will keep our fingers crossed with this one.

Sorry, C: drive should be active and (the) primary
partition.

Oh buddy, you've got to get away from that modern hardware. Vista ironically
installs better with IDE HD's and AGP video cards. SATA and PCI-E are bad
words for Vista and lead to most of it's failures. Thank God Microsoft
released XP, 2000 and Windows 98 to handle the newer more modern hardware to
address Vista's weaknesses as you find those OS versions all will install
where Vista can't......
 
HMM, Funny. Vista Ultimate installed just fine on my core2 duo, nvidia 570
SLI mobo, SATA II 500 gig WD caviar.
didn't even have to press F6 to load the SATA drivers, it already had them.
the only drivers that needed updating were the ACPI drivers, and the drivers
for my GeForce 8800
Almost as good as Ubuntu Linux.
