Hi all,

I hope someone can help me with a fix for a Stop
0x000000D1 / Driver_IRQL_Not_Less_Or_Equal problem. The
mentioned driver is mrxsmb.sys. I've done exhaustive
research in the Knowledge Base and it appears that this is
a known problem for Windows 2000 Professional, but none of
the KB articles deals with my precise issue.

I removed my combined antivirus / firewall program
(TrendsMicro PC-Cillin 2003) and tested for about six
hours; the problem stopped. But when I shut down (with PC-
Cillin removed), I got the Stop 0x000000D1 screen again.

I reinstalled PC-Cillin without the firewall. I continue
to have the shut-down / blue screen problem (see No. 2
below).

1. With the antivirus / firewall program installed, I get
the following message on a blue screen: Stop: 0x000000D1
(0xE4583040, 0x000000FF, 0x00000001, 0xBB9410F0).
Driver_IRQL_Not_Less_Or_Equal ***Address BB9410F0 base at
BB93D000, DateStamp 3a6407b5 - mrxsmb.sys. Beginning dump
of physical memory.

2. With the antivirus program alone (no firewall), I now
get the following: Stop: 0x000000D1 (0xE4005040,
0x000000FF, 0x00000001, 0xBB9167AC).
Driver_IRQL_Not_Less_Or_Equal ***Address BB9167AC
base at BB911000; ***DateStamp 3ecd5361 - mrxsmb.sys.
***Beginning dump of physical memory.

I would **really** appreciate a fix for this and hope that
one of you geniuses can figure this out. I've spoken with
TrendMicro, and although they were helpful, the tech I
spoke with said she had never seen this problem.

I'm running Windows 2000 Professional, IE 6+.

Thanks in advance!

Carmen
