I have a Dell PE1750 server, Win2k SP4, Sony LIB-D81 tape
autoloader, BackupExec v9.1. When I installed BackupExec,
and let it use BE's own tape drivers, the server blue-
screens with a STOP: 0x0000001E
KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED error message, and mentions
ntoskrnl.exe. When I uninstall BackupExec, the problem
goes away. I also tried loading drivers from Sony's site,
and got the same blue-screen. It gets stuck in a blue-
screen cycle - within 2 minutes of booting up, the server
blue-screens and reboots. Didn't have this problem when
this server was running Win2003 Server. Veritas
(BackupExec) hasn't been helpful so far.

Reading between the lines, it sounds like a software incompatibility or
corruption problem. Try reinstalling the latest service pack for Win2K
(SP4). You can never reinstall service packs too many times.

If the problem persists, try uninstalling BE, reapplying SP4, reinstalling
BE (without their tape drivers if possible) and re-reapplying SP4.

Yeah, I know ... it's the cookbook trial-and-error you get from just about
every tech support line (except, evidently, Veritas <g>). But you have to
start somewhere.
