Has anybody had experience with using excel to make stock market (Gann) swing charts.
If so I'd lke to know how to create them, preferrably overlaid on candlestick charts??

Bernie -

Well, since the X axis isn't a time axis, but just a count of the
accumulated selling points, you wouldn't really overlay it on the
candlestick chart. You could, but then your bars would all be different
widths.

You would need to place formulas in your worksheet, or maybe a macro,
that would calculate the points at which you need to indicate a high or
low point. You could write your own algorithms, or steal, I mean copy,
other ones you think work well.

I'd suggest making a Step Chart, as described by Tushar Mehta on his web
site (http://tushar-mehta.com). It uses error bars to connect the
points in this type of chart.

GOOD POST ! I'll br eatching for answers ...

Would you mind if I widened this to make a call for resources [URLs] to help
with stock market work,
from charting to downloading data ?

Thanks Jon,
I'm not too worried about the width of the bars being different widths but
I'll give Tushar Mehta's step chart a go.
Thanks,
Bernie

Frank,
There seems to be plenty of such resources but most seem to want to be paid
for their efforts. (Understandably - I guess.)
Search for "gann swing charts" & you'll find out.
Let me know if you find otherwise - or of a newsgroup that covers such
topics?
