Newf !!!

Don't know if anyone else's fan is like this, but mine makes this
horrible hi pitched whine when 1st turned on, then eventually goes
away.

It's noisy as hell too for a gpu fan. My Nvidia was an asus, and you
couldn't hear that thing at all.

So, I ordered the artic cooler with the heat pipe and some artic
thermal paste. Hope that helps my high temps and noise

I noticed that even during normal windows use, I got temps hitting ~56
on a hot day non overclocked.

Anywho, just bored.

I've owned my 9800 Pro for a year now (already!) and I have no complaints
about the fan that came with it. My experience with the 9700 Pro,
however, wasn't as nice. There was a faint high-pitched squeal coming
from it, and there would be low droning for the first little while after
you first turned the computer on.

Usually that Whine is the cheapo sleeve bearing getting ready to quit
(may go on for a while)

First try blowing out the fan with compressed air....they acumulate
lots of dirt

Suggestions
1) if under Warranty, contact the manufacturer for a replacement
2) if not, a temporary fix is to peel back the paper cover over the
center of the fan and place a drop of sewing machine oil into the
sleeve then tape the paper closed to avoid dust getting in. If the
paper is on the fan bottom, the fan itself is easy to take off (If I
remember, 4 screws, depending on your brand)

3) my choice.... if not under warranty...replace the oem unit with a
VGA Silencer....under $20, quiet 2 speed and very effective!

I replaced my 9700 pro fan with the Silencer and could not be happier!

I have no problem about the cooling system...., I got the MSI RX 9800 Pro
128 TD.

;-)

Cheers....
