Stitching Off PC with XP

I have just upgraded from Windows ME to XP.

Now every time I stitch off my PC I get a message telling
me 'it is now safe to switch off your computer' but this
didn't happen with ME the computer automatically turned
off.


Is there a setting I can change within XP to get it to do
the same as ME?
