Hello I installed my A7V8X-X motherboard a few weeks ago and when I try to
install
the Asus PC Probe v2.19.04 that came with it the comp freezes up and I have
to reboot. I have closed out of all other programs and I have installed the
drivers that came on the cd.I even tried the program in Safe Mode.
I downloaded 2.20.08 on the website with no luck. This is driving me crazy I
guess it wouldn't be so bad except
for the fact that everything else works so good on it.

The Asus update will not work as well from the CD sometimes it locks up
sometimes it tells me I dont have an Asus motherboard?

thanks for any help given...

What about MotherBoard Monitor?
http://mbm.livewiredev.com/

Ed

You might try bumping up the Reference memory voltage to 2.55v .
I don't have the mb, but sometimes that helps for stability with programs.

THere is a new version of Probe available from ASUS. Haven't
tried it yet but it's on the server.

A new version PC probe? Where exactly? Very curious to see if they fixed the
thousands of bugs in it yet.

I've used MotherBoard Monitor I'm just not a big fan of the interface.

Thanks for the suggestion

I can't find that option in my bios
I see the option to adjust the CPU Vcore and the latency for my ram but no
voltage for it.

Larry,

I've had similar problems before with an A7V333. In my particular setup the
problems turned out to be two-fold. Firstly bad I/O on the board and
secondly and intermittent fault with one of the memory sticks (which meant
that it didn't show up with the normal running of the machine, just as
instabilities.

In the end I used a DOS based memory testing programme to test each of the
sticks of RAM - which took the best part of a day!

Dunno if this helps, but give it a go.

Regards

Barry

I tested my memory all night and it didn't find any errors....
I'm thinking about throwing in a different hard drive and booting up win98.

Sorry then Larry - Just a thought!

If you bootup in Win98 you can then see if it's a driver or software
compatibility issue - or possibly even a HDD error. It may even pay you to
look up any relevant error codes from the log files or event logs on the
microsoft website. They're not always as useless as you may think!

Of course if it dies under windows 98 you may have to start thinking about
if it's the motherboard itself that is causing the problems. Are there any
other errors? If not, how dedicated are you to PC Probe?? - Somebody else on
this group has recommended 'Speedfan' which sounds very similar.

Good Luck!

I tried SpeedFan and I actually like it.

But I just can't stand that PC Probe won't work. I just want to know if
there is a problem with my motherboard. I doubt it because the computer
works fine otherwise
thanks for your help Barry.

I got PC Probe to work first try in Win98 so I guess it isn't a motherboard
issue
whats odd is it won't even work in safe mode in XP.
