A google of the ideas for why Win2000Pro sp4 gets stuck in a loop
that uses 100% of the CPU for a long time still turns up notta.
Task Manager says services.exe is using @ 100% for 2-1/2 hours out
of a 350 hr run time. Comtun has used 20 min, Explorer has used 10
min.
The box only has 3 apps installed Comtun, a NAT program that uses
dial-up networking, FreeAV & M$Antispyware beta.
I have run 2 up to date AV programs & Spybot which find nothing.
I have reinstalled the NAT prog. No change.
I have shut down or set to Manual all the processes recommended by
the W2000 gurus (19 still remain)
Defrag, Regclean finds nothing.
The box is a Compaq Deskpro 450 w/ 192 Mb of memory.
The network of 4 boxes all works correctly. The other 3 are W98se.
Is there a program that can 'see' the things that run below
services.exe to try to find the culprit?
Does someone have a solution short of replacing W2000 w/ W98?
Thanks to all
