Still problems Win XP w/ SP2

I thought I had a intrsuion resolved two days ago but
now I`m not certain. I had the microsoft beta installed
and deleted the spyware files that attacked my PC.I had
to do this 5 times because each subsequent scan showed
the same files.
The same day, I rebooted the system and got a boot disk
faliure. I rebooted again and again and still the same
problem. The next day I booted up, I had no problems. I`ve
never heard are a intermittent hardware problem. I assume
the beta never removed all the files and the bug has
modified my hard drive sectors. Could this be true.
Need some ideas, I`m tired of reinstalling windows and
installing all the endless secuity patches.
Its my opinion once you get a bug no security software
ever removes it.

Failures of the kind you describe may indeed be intermittent. I would
strongly recommend that you back up crucial data, and work out a method of
keeping up with that function.

I believe that cleaning viruses and spyware is, in fact, a science. It can
be done right, and done in ways which restore the OS to its original
integrity. There are, however, some very thorny issues involved in some
cases--and we have ample evidence all around us that no tool does the job
perfectly yet.
