Still Need Help - Display screen size suddenly shrunk a little

I have just discovered something that makes me think my problem is not
in the KDS monitor.

I have two other machines, on with WXP, the other with W98SE. Both
machines show a FULL SCREEN display on this same KDS VS-195E monitor.

Therefore my problem is unique to my new ECS L7VMM3 (MOBO)
Athlon-Duron machine which has W98SE on it.

So, what setting (BIOS or otherwise) should I look for to fix my
problem?

Thanks, and please be nice.

Isnt there an adjustment with the monitor? All my recent monitors
since ages ago have all sorts of adjustments to stretch/expand the
screen sideways and up and down. You can also move the pics center
around to center it and get rid of pincushion distortortion etc - you
know its pinched in the middle or barreling outwards or pyramid shaped
etc .

Yes of course, but for some reason the center 3" wide by 2" high 4-way
control on the monitor does nothing. May be broke? I inherited the
monitor some time ago. That control has never worked.

Since the screen is full sized with the other two machines, without
any monitor adjustment(s), I figure the problem is not on the monitor.
Could be wrong on that I guess.

Thanks

The Display Properties page in Windows should have refresh rate and
hopefully image size settings. If you're using a WinXP bundled driver or
another "lite" version of the driver which doesn't include adjustments for
this (image size) then you might find the full feature driver at chipset
(northbridge, Via or Sis?) or motherboard manufacturer's website, or
possibly on the CD that came with the motherboard.

The control on the front... Pushing the left side should degauss the screen
(makes the whole thing shake). Pushing the right side should give you a menu
to make adjustments.

If these aren't working then your monitor is broken and any adjustments you
want to make will have to be done in the Display Properties in Windows.
There is nothing you can do outside of Windows to make adjustments except
fix/replace the monitor.

Most monitors are designed to have a 1/4" dark gap at the sides of the
monitors anyhow.

Well I agree that the monitor must be broken - at least the control
knob part.

The 1/4" is really about 1/2", now that I look a little closer.

Thanks for info on Monitor control.

I found the problem. I unchecked the PnP check box for the monitor,
removed the monitor from Device Manager, did 'add new hardware', did
not choose PnP, but chose a resolution definition (1078X?), rebooted.

Now screen is full size.

Thanks

I had a HP comp running win98se that I had downloaded updated video drivers
for. The screen then left a three inch 'frame' of black all around. I got
into the advanced display properties and it said that my CRT monitor was an
LCD monitor. After I changed that everything was fine. Hope it helps.
