still cant remove virus/trojan

Hello

recap

xp machine on lappy

when connected to the interweb a countdown comes up and reboots.

IIRC (not infront of pc)

its the sasser as that what google and things in startup seem to indicate

pc has no lan connection and cd drive doesnt like cdrw disks so i have used
many cdrs with no luck

tried the msoft things and it says no problem.

tried avg with all updates, says no problem, i tried some things in safe
mode D H Lipman said (IIRC)

i even tried a free trial of norton, which slowed it to a crawl but no damn
problem

it got infected when kerio popped up and some idiot (other boss and owner of
lappy) wouldnt shut up and i hit the wrong key.

i gave it him back and he said it shuts down............

hell im tempted to stick SE on, its only a 400mhz dell thingy but what am i
doing wrong?

I know of differant variant but i tried all updates and acc to what google
said i had the right things from msoft?

Please post the EXACT error message (to the letter! ) when the following occurs...

In the mean time, try the following...

Obtain McAfee's virus and worm removal tool, Stinger: http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/

1) If you are using WinME or WinXP, disable System Restore
http://vil.nai.com/vil/SystemHelpDocs/DisableSysRestore.htm
2) Reboot your PC into Safe Mode
3) Using McAfee Stinger, perform a Full Scan of your platform and clean/delete any
infectors found
4) Restart your PC and perform a "final" Full Scan of your platform
5) If you are using WinME or WinXP, Re-enable System Restore and re-apply any
System Restore preferences, (e.g. HD space to use suggested 400 ~ 600MB),
6) Reboot your PC.
7) If you are using WinME or WinXP, create a new Restore point
8) Please report back your results
