I try to make a home network betwen 2 Xp machines. A
laptop and pc. I use an Ethernet cable (FastCAT5e, RJ45
m/m) but both Intel PRO/100 VE in an Hp Pavilion 750n,
and in a Dell Inspiron 500m dosn't works. They still a
message "network cable unplugged". Please help me!

P.D. If I make few mistake with my english I'm sorry. I'm
learning too.

I suspect you do not have the right cable. Most ethernet cables are
designed to connect computers to a hub (or to the wall and then to a
hub). You have two computers connected together without a hub, right?
Then you need a special cable. Get a hub and another cable or change
your cable for one specifically designed to direct connect two
computers.

Buenos Dias,

Go to Radio Shack or simular and ask for a "CrossOver" cable for your two
computers. Without a hub type device the actual internal wiring for the
connector ends on the RJ45 cable has to be changed.

Good Luck,
Len
