For the last couple of weeks, whenever I start Win2K, it comes up with
the Startup folder open. I can't seem to stop it happening and it's a
nuisance.

Anyone know what caused this and how to get rid of it?

It may sound too simple, but is there a shortcut to the folder, IN the
startup folder? I've seen trick done to students while in class.

If that's not the answer, go into the following location and remove the
check mark that may be there.
Open the following:
My Computer
Click Tools
Click Folder Options
Click View
Scroll down and locate the option called: 'Restore previous folder windows
at logon'

Hope this helps

Thanks, Sean. I've fixed the problem ... it was actually a sub-folder
from the startup folder that kept opening into which I had moved some
startup items that I didn't think I needed. (It was a temporary
measure while I confirmed that deleting them wouldn't be a problem).

In any event I deleted the subfolder which fixed the problem (well it
*can't* open up now).

Curious thing about your second solution though. I checked the folder
<View> settings and I don't have one called 'Restore previous folder
windows at logon'.
