Hello, I've been trying to hide a folder or password protect a folder
located in My Documents. Im running XP Home w/ NTFS and when I put the
computer in Safe Mode it comes up w/ two administrators. One just labeled
"Admininstrator" the other is "my user name / computer admin. password
protected".
When I login in Safe Mode I tried the "user name" and came up w/ the
security tab.
Can someone tell me step by step in laymens terms exactly what to do in
here?
I tried switching the permissions to "deny" in the folder I want to hide and
then rebooted to regular mode but the folder is still visible.
Is my understanding that once you switch to "deny" and then try to open
the folder a password box should pop up to gain access to the folder?
There are many tabs in the security tab and Im not exactly sure what
they all mean--- What im asking is for someone to tell me the exact
procedure-in laymens terms, not a link because I dont understand it, the steps
to take to enable the folder to password protect this folder!!
Any help will be greatly apprieciated and thankyou for your
patience.Deanoid

Folders never disappear.
If you have the permission to read the contents of a folder and that folder
contains other folders that you are denied access to you can "see" the
folder name - you just will not be able to go into them.
