Step 1, Step 2, etc. for bullets?

Is there a way to make the bulletted list placeholder
use "Step 1", "Step 2", etc. as bullet points?
 
Of course, should this be a "can't do without" feature, you could write some
code to do it for you.

For instance, instead of bulleting the list, just type a '~' symbol where
you want the steps to be inserted. Then run a macro/code to search for
these, and replace with "Step x - " with increments beginning on each slide
at 1. Might be a good starter code project to begin your journey to the
dark side of VBA. (Insert appropriate sound bite of evil laugh here)

Are you asking if PowerPoint can use the words "step 1 - " ( and increment
the number) INSTEAD of the bullet point character?

No, I haven't heard of a way, yet.
