Hi,
i plan to use MS Vista Business on my new laptop. The machine is Asus
A6KM with 2.0 Ghz AMD Turion (one core), 512 MB DDR 333 MHz of RAM and
GF 7300 GO. As i know, VIsta required at least 512 MB, but i want to run
my laptop properly, so i'd like to buy another 512 or 1 GB of memory.
The question is: would i be able to run VIsta like my XP on this conf?
What do you think? It sounds horribly, when i see, that 1 or 2 gb is not
enough for Vista. I can't spend money to improve pc that i jous bought a
few manths ago. I Vista really so resource eater?
Thanks
Marcin

I have my ACER TM370 (512mb/1.4G CPU, a older model than yours) installed
with Vista, and it run very smoothly after my turning off some features as
areo desktop/ defender/ firewall/ task schedual--all of which are not
neccessary, I think, for a laptop usage. So if you do not intend to run many
large 3d game/graphic application or to do a lot of computation-intensive
programming, it will be a good try to switch to Vista. Of course you should
not expect Vista would run faster than XP, not to mention the possible
drivers issue since our machine is not "designed for Vista"(the only small
problem that I still cannot overcome is ReadyBoost on my internal SD card
reader). At last, you may have to spend some time making acquance with the
new OS. Good luck.
