I'm using Win2000 and an HP all-in-one PSC 1210xi printer. Whenever I
try
to print, it wont. If I watch the Printer Queue box as I try to
print, the job appears, the status says 'Spooling', changes to
'Printing', then to 'Deleting - Printing", all in a matter of seconds
and my printer doesn't even flinch. No blinking...nothing. It's
hooked up to a USB port. Under advanced printer properties for port,
I tried the USB port called USB001 and one called DOT4_001. It won't
print from either port. When I try to print from the print preview of
internet explorer, it brings up the printer box and immediately pops
up an alert that says "before you can print you need to install a
printer" In the Select Printer box is "Add a printer" and my printer
(PSC1210) which is already selected as the default, yet the print
button is grayed out and I can't select my printer. If I look in
control panel/printers, my printer shows up and it's status is ready.
If I unplug it, its status changes to "use printer offline" so at
least some part of Windows can see it. It's weird some parts of
windows thinks it's installed and others (IE6) think it's not
installed. And like I said, when I print (say a simple text file from
Wordpad) the status goes from spooling to printing to deleting -
printing all in a few seconds yet nothing happens at the printer. I
even tried to tell it to not spool and to print directly to the
printer but I get the same problem. I've installed HP's software,
uninstalled, re-installed and that doesn't help. I couldn't find help
on HP's web site either and I've been waiting an hour for their
on-line chat support with no response.

Any ideas?

Mark Hayworth,

Try to print to file,(i.e select the print to file at
print time ).
and look for the contents and size of file( it should
have some PDLs & size > 0 KB )
also check with other ports like COM/LPT.

Hth,

I am going through the same problem with a brand new Hp
Postscript Printer/copier on Win 2000 with the most
recent Windows updates on it. The printer can only be
connected to the USB ports and I have tried all USB ports
directly connected to the printer.
Thanks folks.Any help is appreciated.
