I have managed to get a 'proper' (i.e. Win XP like) status bar in
explorer.

I would like to get the AVI functionality back whereby the running
time of an AVI is displayed in the bar when the file is selected a-la
Win XP. How can I do this?

TIA.

Cheers,

Guy

Click Organize / Layout / Details Pane. You can have the old style status
bar and the new details pane both active.

Hi Ronnie,

I'd just like the old Win XP functionality in Vista's status bar. The
details pane is too big for my liking even on its smallest setting.

Cheers,

Guy

I don't know of any way to make the old style status bar behave the same way
in Vista as it did in XP.
