hi i have a thomson router and a toshiba laptop. i have installed the router
and it says i am connected with full signal strength, but when i try to open
an internet explorer page it says it cannot display the page. i have gone
into internet options and have gone into connection doctor but it says there
is no problem with the connection. i then tried to reinstall the router and
it said to check static DNS entry. can anyone please help? thanks, julie.

What is the router connected to? Cable, DSL ?
Router and modem model numbers ?
Usually Cable residential service assigns a dynamic address to the cable
modem.
The router should see an address for the LAN side of the modem.
If the IP has locked service to the MAC address of your computer when it is
directly connected to the modem, you will need to set the router to mimic
the MAC address of the computer.
Routers may need to be set to find the modem at an address that usually is
something like 192.168.100.1
A router might be set to use this as the DNS source, or use dynamic DNS
settings, or be set to a specific DNS address.
Computers may also be set for a specific address to go to for DNS service.
