Hi everyone,
Thought I would stop lurking and post.
Can anyone tell me please if it is possible to print on static cling in
order to make window stickers though a standard Epson 1290 .

Regards

I recall seeing these listed as Epson media some time back so I would
expect them to print OK. However, the 1290 uses dye inks, doesn't it? If
so, then I would expect them to fade quite fast. Be prepared to reprint
fairly frequently.

Jon.

Thanks for the reply Jon,
CAn you think of a better printer to use please?

How long do the stickers have to last?

An Epson inkjet that uses pigment inks would increase the life of the
stickers but wouldn't make them permanent.

A printer using solvent-based inks is the next best bet. Something like
those sold by companies such as Roland and Mutoh. Expensive stuff.

Best of all is, probably, an offset litho press. *Very* expensive stuff.

Unless you're starting a business to do this, and have lots of capital
behind you, it would probably be best to talk to some of your local
printers and find out if any of them can do it.

I am unfamiliar with "static cling" other than as an annoying phenomenon
women often complain about in regard to their undergarments ;-)

I assume it is a type of plastic printing medium that sticks to windows.

I do know there are inkjet specialized window decal materials on the
market. I think Avery, IBM and Xerox may be suppliers.

I've done a couple with the 1270 which uses the same ink set. The dyes will
fade pretty quickly with exposure to sun and there was the issue of
eventually running in the rain.

What about inside the vehicle?
