somewhere buried in my startup configuration, my computer
loads and opens Internet Explorer automatically. can
someone please tell me how to shut this off?! i can't
find anything in the software settings, so I think it's
somewhere in the startup registry. thanks!
 
In what operating system?
If Win98/Me then try this:

Check in Msconfig for any oddities.
(Start-Run-MSCONFIG-Startup tab)
If you cannot see anything in Msconfig then:

Start-Run-msinfo32
Click the + beside Software Environment to expand.
Click Startup Programs
Ctrl+A to Select All, Ctrl+C to Copy.
Paste that information in your message.
