I have windows XP and I put family members names like it
asks. Now everytime it starts we have to pick whod is
signing in. How do I shut this feature off, so when
windos xp starts up, it automatically goes to the desk
top.

Hi Davy,

To automatically log-on to Windows, type CONTROL USERPASSWORDS2 at Start >> Run and press enter.
Under the "User" tab, uncheck the box "Users must enter a username...." and hit apply. Supply the
username and password under which you want your computer to Auto-logon everytime and OK your way
out

In addition to the excellent advice from Anando.

XP is a multi-user operating system. You cannot get to the desktop without
being logged on to an account, either automatically or by choosing a user.
If you specify your user account as the one that is automatically logged on
when the system starts, then anyone who starts the computer will be logged
onto your account. They would then need to log off and log back on with
their own account.

It's better to have everyone log onto their own account, simply because not
everyone will want to use the same settings that another user has
configured.
