Can someone please suggest a program or method to know what is starting up on your computer? I have an idea there must be programs starting up that I don't need at all. Thank You in advance

Go to Start | Run and type
msconfig
and press <Enter>. Look on the Startup tab.

I use Mike Lin's Startup Control Panel http://www.mlin.net/StartupCPL.shtml
to monitor/manage programs that run at startup and his StartupMonitor
http://www.mlin.net/StartupMonitor.shtml to monitor new programs which try
to register themselves to run at startup, often bypassing the Windows
startup folder. I find both programs invaluable. HTH
