When the computer ( win xp) starts up.. it says * welcome*. I always have
to click my name for it to proceed. Is there a way that when I restart it
will load without me having to click my name. I am the only user.

Thanks for your time

Hi Flo,

1. Go to Start/Run and type in: control userpasswords2 and press ok.

2. On the Users tab, clear the Users Must Enter A User Name And Password To
Use This Computer check box and then click OK.

3. In the Automatically Log On dialog box that appears, type the user name
and password for the account you want to be logged on each time you start
your computer.

Tip:

Add Control UserPasswords2 to the Control Panel (Line 1)

The following article details how to do this:

How to Enable Automatic Logon in Windows

You can also use the following steps to enable automatic logon without
editing the registry in Windows XP Home Edition and Windows XP Professional
(not joined to a domain):
1.. Click Start, and then click Run.
2.. In the Open box, type control userpasswords2, and then click OK.
3.. In the dialog box that appears, clear the Users must enter a user name
and password to use this computer check box, and then click OK.
Hope this helps.
Franksta.
